The 'PearPC' folder then contained the following files: Changelog text file, COPYING license file, nvram file, the (three ISO image files of the three MAC OS X installation disks) panther1.iso, panther2.iso, panther3.iso, the pearpc-3gib.img and pearpc-6gib.img files, the (PearPC executable file) pcc.exe, Video driver - video.x, ppccfg.example file, SDL.dll, and the PearPC Mac OS X installation configuration (created with 'PearPC Control Panel') named ppc.cfg. I used WinRAR to de-compress the two bz2 compressed files giving the pearpc-6gib.img and pearpc-3gib.img image files. In the folder 'PearPC' I have installed 'PearPC' files, the three panther.iso files (created with Roxie CDCreator using Disk Copy to produce 'ISO' images of the three Mac OS X installation Cds.) and expanded copies of each of the two hard disk image (img) files (2 and 2) downloaded from 'PearPC' website. I have set up a folder on my machine to contain the 'PearPC' files and the Panther OS files as follows: On a non-bootable Drive (D) I have the following path to the 'PearPC folder: D: Mac=5FOS=5FX=5FEmulation PearPC.

However, some applications and extensions won't work under Classic. It allowed Mac OS X to run Mac OS 9 applications that weren't updated to run natively on OS X (known as carbonization based on the Carbon API). All versions of Mac OS X that were made to run on PowerPC systems (with the exception of Leopard) had a Mac OS 9 emulation layer called 'Classic'.
It started out on PowerPC processors but later transitioned onto Intel processors with Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) the last to natively support the PowerPC architecture and Snow Leopard (10.6) the last to support PowerPC applications on Intel-based Macs. It also adds the Dock as a place to launch applications (Not dissimilar to the underused Launcher) as well as some other features.
It features a new theme called Aqua which replaces Platinum from Mac OS 8 and 9. It is based off the unix kernel and provides compatibility with X11. It is a conglomoration of NeXTSTEP, A/UX, and Mac OS 9. Mac OS X is an operating system by Apple Inc.
